By the end of the year students are expected to be able to:
Play a simple jazz sequence and to improvise.
Use the pentatonic and modal approach to improvising.
Investigate scales, chords and extensions 7th, major 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th.
Present a project on a jazz artist of their choice.
Rehearse and perform as a group.
Understand the influence of jazz and the historical and cultural background that brought it about.
Discover the instruments associated with jazz and some unusual exceptions.
